To achieve high google rankings is not as easy as one thinks. When you first develop a website you may find that your website is listed at number 27,000,000 on the list. Moreover, it usually takes about 3 months or more to get “indexed” by google. Once your site is “indexed,” you may have to spend at least one year in what’s called the “google sand box.”  This is a google filter designed not to allow new sites to achieve high rankings quickly.

So if anyone promises you quick rankings in google they are misleading you. They are telling you a good fish story. It is now impossible to achieve quick rankings in google.  In fact, most sites take from 1 to 2  years or more before they receive all of their key words in google. Google therefore gives higher rankings to the more established sites. And if you don’t play ball by their rules you may never achieve high rankings.

Also, it is hard to achieve high rankings because in order to do so your competition must be willing to link to your site. If you link back to their site than google does the math. One way links from related sites who are ranking well in google will boost your sites ranking. But think about it, how many of your competitors would be willing to give you a one way link?  It’s safe to say - not too many.

In view of all of this, it may be quicker and in some cases cheaper to buy a website that is already indexed and is at least over 1 year old.  If it has a page rank of 3, it will usually be found within the top 100.
